A few fun finds

A few of you have asked for photos of my latest finds so here they are! I often have a hard time knowing what MY style is, so it has been fun to search for treasures … one at a time! It’s strange to me how I can search and search with no luck but then I see something that just FITS! My style is definitely a bit on the eclectic side, but I guess that will just keep life interesting!

I also bought an easel and am working one painting one of my Italy photos. I’ll post pictures of it when I’m finished but for now, here is a painting I did for my sister-in-law for Christmas (I copied it from a magazine so can’t take the credit for the idea):

Beautiful Things

There is a song that has meant a lot to me over the past 6 months….Beautiful Things by Gungor. It’s a song that has brought me hope, encouragement, and perspective. Last night as I was preparing to paint, I had just scraped off all the old dry paint peels when I got the idea to incorporate them in my art. I hope it in some way reminds you that even the parts we want to throw away, God can take and make into something beautiful.

Okay I promise I don’t paint every day…but anyways here’s another project for a rainy Wed. evening. (I lost electricity in the middle of the painting…I was so thankful the lights came back on because cleaning up oil paints in the dark would NOT have been fun…I think it would have been slightly hazardous actually!)

I enjoyed some time at home this morning and decided to get my paints back out. I tried a different color palette this time and enjoyed it. Gotta love Monet! And I’ve decided I LOVE painting in the impressionist style. That way I feel like I can’t mess up and it’s all about the colors anyway! :-)

I have LOVED the time I have been able to spend with my nieces this weekend! Ella always loves to come and “help” me with my makeup and it takes twice as long but is twice the fun!

Mongolia tragedy

Hey I wanted to ask if you will join me in prayer. We just received news that the entire Young Life team in Mongolia was driving home from the week of summer camp and were in an accident just a few hours ago. We know that one staff (Javza) was killed (she was the main contact I work with in Mongolia for the DGL program) and 3 more are in critical condition. 10 people were in the van.

Please pray for:
1. Those who are in serious condition.
2. Javza’s family as they deal with her loss.
3. Comfort for those not seriously injured as they deal with this deep loss and tragedy.
4. Young Life in Mongolia…leadership…the DGL students…the youth who just went to a week of camp and were introduced to Jesus Christ for the first time…
